“Phraya Pali” in the Ramakien Legend
According to the Ramakien (the Thai adaptation of the Ramayana), Phraya Pali was granted a divine boon by Lord Ishvara (Shiva). This boon decreed that whenever he fought an opponent, half of his enemy’s strength would be transferred to him. As a result, the more he fought, the weaker his adversaries became, while his own power continued to increase.
Due to this extraordinary gift, Phraya Pali possessed immense strength and was undefeated in battle. Even the mighty demon king Tosakanth (Ravana) was no match for him—Phraya Pali once captured Tosakanth, tied him up with a rope, and let his son, Angada, drag him playfully around the city of Kishkindha.
